Stage Challenge TV

Twelve venues, 180 schools, seventeen thousand participants and an audience of twenty five thousand people…the Stage Challenge® is a dance, drama and design spectacular where students are the stars. It is part of a global event held in Australia, Japan, South Africa, the United Kingdom and New Zealand.

I was asked o travel for 2 months from Invercargill to Auckland as a Producer directing around 200 interviews, capturing backstage antics and operating one of three cameras during the 180 live performances. Throughout the tour I trained and mentored Unitec students and worked with the presenters from Sticky TV to produce the structure for a 6 part TV series to be screened on TV 3 in August 2009. I shot all the footage in 1080i and 720p on the Panasonic HVX202AEN using two 32gb cards which gave me around an hours worth of space a day.
The live show had 3 JVC HD cameras feeding into the OB kit. I operated camera 1 (front of house camera) and I had to find camera operators in each area we visited. This added a little spice to the live event. I worked under my Technical Director Addam Crawford who cut the live event and learned a lot about live work and filming for an episode based TV show.

The show will be screened on TV3 from the 17th August – 22nd, 2009 at 3:30pm during the sticky tv slot. And then at 7:30am on the Saturday Morning A one hour special will be played.

After the show finished I was flown to Australia to work on the Australian Rocka show. I worked with popular childrens TV host Drew from The Shack to produce segments for the Foxtel TV series. I worked in Brisbane and Sydney, editing and filming several projects for Global Rock Challenge.
